Frequently Asked Questions

What is the average length of stay?
Milestones students are enrolled for a minimum of one semester; however, if deemed clinically or academically appropriate a longer length of stay is possible.
Does a student need to come from another residential treatment facility?
Yes and no. Prior residential treatment is required, although it is possible a student may have gone home in between residential treatment and Milestones.
Where do students come from?
Students have typically attended wilderness therapy, a diagnostic treatment facility, and/or a longer-term residential treatment facility. A Milestones student has shown success in prior treatment environments, yet needs continued therapeutic structure to complete high school and enter young adulthood.
Do students have cell phones?
Yes. Students who are clinically appropriate for Milestones have learned to manage a personal cell phone. Phones and plans are paid for by individual families.
Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?
Yes! Students meal plan with staff, and are responsible for cooking dinner for the house one night a week. The students practice budgeting, nutrition, meal planning, and the actual cooking of food. We are able to accommodate a variety of dietary restrictions.
What are the steps for enrollment?
  • Review psychological and educational testing, any discharge summaries or other previous treatment reports
  • Family phone interview
  • Student phone interview
  • Campus tour (optional but highly recommended for parents)
  • Application paperwork

We know that every student is unique. If you have any questions, please contact us.
