Adam Hannigan

Executive Director

After earning his degree at the University of Iowa, Adam spent time travelling and working in the mountain west. The Flathead Valley became home in 1998 and he spent 3 years working at a therapeutic wilderness program in the summers and at a rural public school with youth at risk throughout the school year. In 2003, Adam started working in long term residential therapy and has continued his career through various roles within therapeutic boarding schools and transitional living work. Since 2012, he has been committed to supporting families in transition and joined the Milestones team as the Program Director at the start of 2022. Adam believes in the work that we do, day in and day out. With each new cohort, Adam is reminded how strong our community is and the empowerment that comes from positive relationships.

Adam fell in love with Northwest Montana after college and has called Whitefish home for over two decades. Adam and his wife are passionate about raising their two adventurous daughters in the “Last Best Place”. Skiing runs deep in Adam’s family roots, and they love rafting and hiking in the summer. Adam also has the privilege of sharing his passions for soccer, mountain biking and rock climbing with students at work.
